project
This bench was originally designed for a “Social seating” project, which Jasper Morrison curated for the 1st Art & Design Biennale in Fiskars Village in Finland. The idea for this project was to develop a bench that pays tribute to nature and the atmosphere of the place. Keiji Takeuchi wanted to design a bench that felt so natural that it looked like it had been there for years. For this purpose, the bench needed a graceful and inviting form.
participation
I participated in the second part of the development of this project during my internship at Keiji Takeuchi Design Office.
I made a full-scale model and worked with Keiji Takeuchi to adjust the leg design of the bench. This task was a great exercise in refining my visual precision and gaining confidence in my craftsmanship, as a bench features numerous details that users perceive through touch and feel while sitting on it.
